Over the past several decades the use of plastics has taken over all levels of manufacturing and this element now replaces what once was the domain of glass. More and more automotive parts are being manufactured from plastics. Headlights are no exception. With this conversion, the need became apparent to create a kit, which would restore plastic headlights to like new condition. About 95% of the vehicles on the road today have plastic headlights and taillights. Unfortunately, these plastic, transparent covers can be easily damaged and scratched. Sunlight, oxidation, harsh chemicals, road grime, salt and other hazards can leave your headlights looking yellow and hazy. This surface damage can reduce headlight output by up to 30% and create a hazardous situation when driving at night. Replacement lens from a dealer can cost up to $100-$1,000 per headlight - installation not included!
Front to back, the process takes under ten minutes per lens with average damage and slightly longer on completely opaque and clouded lenses. This process involves removing the opaque, yellow or crazed plastic from the lens face by sanding with PRO® Light Touch Pads and polishing the plastic back to clear.

PRO® utilizes the same process currently used to restore aircraft and marine windshields. The PRO® Light Touch Pads are designed for use on automotive headlights.
PRO Light Touch Pads are made with a flexible cloth backing, topped with a layer of specially formulated latex. Silicone carbide crystals are bonded with a flexible glue. The various sizes of grit are adhered on the cloth backing in a resilient matrix, as opposed to a hard matrix, like sandpaper. When pressure is applied, Light Touch crystals recede and rotate slightly to present their sharp cutting edges evenly across the surface. Because the crystals can move back and forth into the cushion, a very fine scratch pattern is produced. The result is a uniform, even surface pattern that requires fewer aggressive steps to produce the final finish. Light Touch Pads are the optimum surface preparation and finishing medium.
